This is a lovely incense holder in the shape of a tiger, handmade by Hong Jianpeng from high-grade kaolin clay from Dehua, completely solid and covered with transparent glaze. The shape is a 1:1 scale restoration of the same type of incense holder from the Dehua kilns of the Ming Dynasty.
The kiln firing of solid porcelain is difficult, as it can easily burst open and be damaged in the kiln due to thermal expansion and contraction. After many trials, Hong Jianpeng successfully and perfectly restored this lovely tiger.
You can use it for incense burning, and of course, you can also use it as a tea paddle stand as Kevin did.
